What is Tree Guardian?

Tree Guardian is a borderless digital platform that connects tree owners — including farmers, individuals, and local communities — with people who want to adopt and protect a real tree for the long term. It is an initiative of Tim Layanan Kehutanan Masyarakat (TLKM), powered by GoValid. Guardians receive full traceability of their tree's growth, health, and environmental impact through a unique encrypted QR barcode assigned to each tree.

Who can list a tree on Tree Guardian?

Any individual, farmer, community group, local government, or organization that owns or manages real trees can list them. Listing a tree is completely free — Tree Guardian charges no platform fee to tree owners. All tree owners go through a verification process and receive a trust score to ensure authenticity.

How much does it cost to adopt a tree?

Adoption prices are set directly by the tree owner or community — Tree Guardian does not add any intermediary fee. Prices vary depending on the tree species, size, location, and the commitment period agreed upon. Guardians pay the tree owner community directly.

Is Tree Guardian available outside Indonesia?

Yes. Tree Guardian is a borderless platform — anyone anywhere in the world can become a tree guardian and adopt trees. Tree owners and guardians from multiple countries can participate. Local support is available through regional partners including local NGOs, community groups, government agencies, universities, and certified consultants.

Can I visit my adopted tree in person?

Yes. Guardians are welcome to visit their tree in person. Tree Guardian also connects guardians with local authority services — including local NGOs, community organizations, local government bodies, universities, and independent consultants — who can assist with on-ground verification, guided visits, and in-person updates.

How does Tree Guardian ensure the trees are real and protected?

Every tree owner goes through a registration verification process and receives a trust score on the platform. Each tree and its land is assigned a unique encrypted QR barcode for tamper-proof identification. If a tree owner is found to have removed, faked, or misrepresented a tree, they face a strict penalty including permanent blacklisting from the platform.

What certificate does a guardian receive?

Each guardian receives a digital adoption certificate linked to their specific tree. The certificate includes flexible data options — guardians can choose what information is displayed, such as the tree species, GPS location, adoption date, and CO2 impact metrics. The certificate is backed by the tree's unique encrypted barcode and can be used for personal, memorial, or ESG/corporate reporting purposes.

What traceability information can I see for my tree?

Tree Guardian provides full lifecycle traceability for each adopted tree. Guardians can track growth progress, health status updates, photographic records, GPS-verified location, CO2 sequestration estimates, and periodic reports from the tree owner or local authority partners — all accessible through the tree's unique encrypted QR barcode.

What is the unique QR barcode on each tree?

Every tree registered on Tree Guardian is assigned a unique encrypted QR barcode — a tamper-proof digital identity for that specific tree. Scanning the barcode reveals the tree's full profile: owner, guardian, species, location, health history, and adoption certificate. The land certificate associated with the tree also carries its own unique encrypted barcode, ensuring end-to-end traceability from land to tree to guardian.

Can businesses or corporations adopt trees for ESG reporting?

Yes. Tree Guardian supports corporate and organizational adoption for ESG, CSR, and sustainability reporting. Businesses can adopt multiple trees, receive verifiable digital certificates with traceability data, and use the platform's records to demonstrate real environmental impact.
